Rockin' with the Cause

About the Pediatric IBD Center

Growing up is a challenge for everyone. For children affected by a chronic immune disorder, like Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, the emotional and physical impact makes that challenge even greater. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) does not discriminate based on gender, socioeconomic class and least of all, age. Today, the number of new cases of children with IBD is growing faster than in any other age group. Children from all over the world visit the center for both the diagnosis and treatment of these frightening, chronic, sometimes life threatening diseases. In every case, we’re able to provide these children with state-of-the-art medical care and succeed at transforming the torment of illness into more normally developing, productive, playful, pain-free childhoods.

IBD respects few boundaries.

Its cause is unknown.

The cure remains elusive.

Under the direction of Marla Dubinsky, MD, our medical team is made up of doctors with special training in IBD and pediatrics. To offer further support, the comprehensive staff includes pediatric clinical nurse specialists, research coordinators, and nutritional & psychosocial experts. In approaching individual cases, our expert team consult together to develop a treatment plan tailor made for each patient.

The Pediatric IBD Center's unwavering research studies are devoted to searching for the underlying genetic and immune influences with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for IBD. In collaboration with the Common Disease Genetics Institute and the Immunobiology Institute, our scientists are continually examining factors that may provide clues to how the disorder works in the body.

The Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Cedars-Sinai is a unique facility dedicated to healing kids quickly and happily.
